Minimum Footprint, Maximum Style.

The Root of All Design Inc. is excited to debut Tap Root, a new line of accessories and home furnishings made from recycled and reclaimed materials. These items are all made from scraps of materials from custom construction, reclaimed wood, locally cut lumber (for tree removal), and discarded/broken furniture. Each of these pieces is made from materials that were intended for the trash, but have been made into beautiful, functional items instead.

One of the prized items in this collection is a set of chairs rescued from the dumpster! Removed from the site of the old Landmark restaurant in Venice, these chairs had years of grease, dirt and grime on them. The original upholstery was soiled, dirty and ripped in

places. Some were cracked and missing small parts. Despite these flaws, the chairs maintained solid construction, firm cushioning, and classic styling. Two of the chairs were stripped to the bare wood, then sanded and stained to reveal a beautiful, deep brown finish. Comfortable fabric with a classic pattern was used to re upholster the seats and backs. Two more chairs (two that were in poor shape) were disassembled and used to create a matching coffee table. The coffee table stands on the original legs of the chair, and is supported by the original curved stretchers. Custom made wood aprons and a glass top give this table a polished look, and give the discarded chairs a chance at a new life!
